Technical Sales Engineer - Plastics
IN Brighton, MI

General:

Responsible for new customer development and current customer retention in the plastics division of SCHERDEL North America. Functions as a liaison between the customers, company, and headquarters. Responsible for targeting new business and building new customer relationships. Accountable for giving regular market overviews, providing specific customers information such as new development and trends. Provide input into product and sales forecasting to meet defined sales goals.

Commercial:

Secure new business focused on Scherdel Wiesauplast plastics core technology and clarification of feasibility for product development in both process and design. Lead commercial activities for both projects and customers as assigned. Manage and negotiate quotes and commercial topics with customers, as well as optimizing the profitability and goals of each project and customer. Involvement in engineering and sales meetings both internal and external to ensure project objectives are meet both commercial and timing objectives.

Technical:

Work with customer and Scherdel Wiesauplast technical teams (locally and globally) in order to develop new products and processes that align with Scherdel Wiesauplast’s business plan objectives and guidelines. Work with and guide project engineering teams to ensure on time and successful launch activities for new products (not limited to but includes quality, tooling, material, processing and design).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationship according to Scherdel Wieauplast customer matrix
  • Work with Global Key Account Managers to effectively communicate capabilities and goals
  • Establish Scherdel Wiesauplast as a leader in marketable products
  • Establishing close contact with all relevant customer departments to gain their assistance in the development of our products and programs
      • Responsible for product design of products for customers. This work may include part design, validation testing, failure analysis (FMEA), customer interfacing and simultaneous engineering with the manufacturing plant (both internal and external).
        • Experience in understanding and translating technical requirements, and policy/regulatory information for commercial applicability.
        • Work with headquarters, sales applications, and administration groups to develop a consistent sales strategy
        • Organize the group's resources effectively to meet the demands of the marketplace
        • Actively participates in achieving company goals and objectives
        • Travel required locally in North America and internationally
        • Works according to Scherdel Wiesauplast and the customer’s quality and environmental system requirements

        Position Requirements:

        • Bachelors degree in business and/or engineering preferred
        • Equivalent experience in field of plastics
